The Bourbon Summerfest is an annual celebration that invites everyone to Bourbon for a weekend of fun with games, food, face painting, rides and contests, and offering attractions that are guaranteed to capture the interest of all age groups. If you enjoy the treats found throughout the state's 4-h fairs then you will be glad to know that the Summerfest will give you another opportunity to enjoy them each summer. You can expect to find all the classics like; frozen bananas, elephant ears, cotton candy, cheesecake on a stick, and of course popcorn. As if this wasn't enough to get the kid's going they will also be able to get their faces painted and they can be sure to find balloons throughout the grounds as well as carnival rides and games, including the original dunk tank. Children of all ages are also invited to participate in various contest held throughout the weekend that include Twinkie eating, bubble gum blowing, a pet parade, three different pageants, and the mini tractor pull. Larger kids are also invited to test their skills at the paintball shooting range or could simply browse the car collection at the car show. For the more ambitious you might consider taking part in the 5k race and Fun Run.

Everyone should be sure to make it the parade that opens the festivities and the fireworks which conclude them. The parade begins at the High School and winds its way through town making its way downtown across 331 and the Lincoln Highway. The conclusion of the weekends events is also held at the High School but can be seen and heard throughout the entire town. The fireworks display is professionally handled by the Bourbon and Argos Fire Departments and is an excellent way to capture the excitement of the weekend.
